The International Jack-up Barge Owners Association
The International Jack-up Barge Owners Association was formed in 2007 with the intention of improving the industry and creating a harmonised approach to Health & Safety and in particular the training and qualifying of Jack-up Barge masters. It is an entirely independent Members Association paid for by members subscriptions.
The Associations Mission is - To promote the safe, cost-effective and environmentally sound use of jack-up barges as responses to a wide range of challenges.
The Organisation continues to work to introduce best practice in the operation of small to medium Jack-up Barges throughout the World and currently has members from the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Australia with membership growing on a weekly basis.
The Organisation is now well advanced in creating an approval scheme for existing Barge masters together with a training scheme for new Barge masters which will introduce them to the Industry and create a career path for them.
In addition to this there is now an Accreditation Scheme which has been produced whereby Members can elect to be examined prior to Accreditation to ensure that they meet the high and exacting requirements that we are looking for in this Industry.
Only Company's holding this Accreditation will be eligible to use the International Jack-up Barge Owners Association official logo.
The Committee continues to build a working relationship with the Marine Coastguard Agency (MCA), The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) and the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) where we are now working to produce the standards for all Members to attain with the intention of creating a level playing field across the Industry.
